Multi-Skilled Engineer

Location: Yeadon, Leeds (LS19)
Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 4:00pm, Friday 7:30am – 1:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Engineer / Assembly Technician on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business based in Yeadon, Leeds.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience who enjoys working within a workshop environment assembling and testing machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly of machines and sub-assemblies to specification

  • Fitting components and assembling machines

  • Building electrical panels and wiring machinery

  • Loading software onto PLCs and HMIs

  • Installing and testing pneumatic components

  • Setting and testing machines before dispatch

  • Building sub-assemblies for customer orders

  • Upgrading and refurbishing existing machinery

  • Supporting continuous improvement within the workshop

  • Reporting health and safety or quality concerns where necessary

Skills and Experience Required

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering background

  • Experience working with hand tools and workshop equipment

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Good communication and timekeeping

  • Flexible and proactive approach to work

Desirable

  • Formal training or apprenticeship in mechanical and/or electrical engineering

  • Knowledge of PLCs or electrical panel wiring

  • Understanding of health and safety procedures within an engineering environment
